Churches Unite for Baptismal Celebration
We had a fantastic opportunity to celebrate this weekend, as on Sunday 30th March we joined with our friends at the Living Word Baptist Church (IBPV) in Bridgwater for a joint Baptismal service. We joined forces for the worship with half being led by the band from IBPV and half being led with our own band. All the musicians did a great job in leading us into God’s presence and worshiping God in Spirit and in truth. Pastor Steve gave a word focusing on the story of Moses, heroes of faith and standing strong in our faith, trusting in God.
When it came time to invite the baptismal candidates forward we had 9 brothers and sisters ready to publically declare their faith and follow Jesus’ command that “whoever believes and is baptised will be saved” (Mark 16:16). After a praying for the candidates they were invited forward one by one to be baptised by Pastor Marco and Pastor Steve Mason. (Eddie also assisted). From here at BCC we had three of our members baptised, and we were glad to be able to rejoice with them in their new beginning.
To close the service, all of the mothers were honoured by the children of IBPV, who read a heart-warming poem in both English and Portuguese. The mothers were then each presented with a gift to celebrate mothering Sunday.
After an amazing service everyone joined together for light evening supper and had a chance to socialise and meet friends old and new. It was a wonderful way to end a fantastic evening of celebration! Thank you to everyone who was involved in the smooth running of the evening, a special thanks to our hosts at IBPV who organised the event, to Monica Cruz who did a fabulous job of translating for us and also to the BCC worship group (Caron, Matt, Shalome, Eddie and Lynne) and the worship group of IBPV led by Pastor Marcos.
Please continue to keep all the baptismal candidates in your prayers.
