We at Burnham Community Church have had a busy but successful and very enjoyable weekend, with a walk up Brent Knoll to kick start the Easter weekend, Splendour doing a fantastic tea party and finishing off with a very successful open air service. The weekend was enjoyed by Church members and visitors alike.
We started the planned festivities on Good Friday when we met for a walk up Brent Knoll, where, by the 3 crosses erected for Easter, we shared a picnic, followed by a time of worship and prayer. The walk was well attended with just under than twenty of us braving the walk up, and were joined by a group from St. Paul’s in Weston-super-Mare who we met at the top. Fortunately the weather was glorious and we had an amazing and truly blessed time!

The weekend's celebrations continued with Mo hosting yet another successful Splendour event. A number of local residents attended , including some new faces, and were joined by some of our church family. Everyone enjoyed a few hot cross buns and refreshments and the great company. A good time was definitely had by all!

We ended the weekend on a high with our open-air service and parade of the cross, a group of us met at the Pier in Burnham On Sea, where we set off with the cross, carried by Pete, along the Esplanade, onto Sea View Road, finally walking along Berrow Road to Manor Gardens. Along the walk, specially made Cross bookmarks were handed out to members of the public, each cross with a scripture written on them. At Manor Gardens the Cross was brought in to worship played live in the bandstand by Caron, Matt and Shalome. There in the park we joined together for a time of worship and fellowship, where we served free cakes, Hot cross buns and tea and Coffee to all who attended. The children that attended enjoyed a treasure hunt, (a few grown ups enjoyed as well) and were rewarded with a chocolate egg. Many passers by were also blessed with a free egg and Cross bookmark. Pastor Steve Mason said: 'What a wonderful time! It's a privilege to be able to walk with the cross and then celebrate Jesus' victory at the bandstand at Manor Gardens'. The weather stayed fine despite the forecast and let us enjoy the celebrations to the full.
We would like to thank everyone who worked hard beforehand and at the events to ensure yet another successful weekend!
