Picnic Fun at Greatwood

Last Saturday (21st June) a group from BCC took advantage of the weather travelled out to Ramscombe to enjoy the summer sun and spend the afternoon together. With the BBQ set up Pete, Matt and Tom got to work preparing the feast and even managed to prevent the rather weak willed fires from going out. No mean feat it would seem as the creation of fire seemed to elude them for a while! They did however succeed and produced a veritable feast of burgers, sausages and kebabs that were enjoyed by all throughout the day.

With the weather performing at its peak with uninterrupted sunshine all day,a nice breeze made for a pleasant day, in the beautiful setting surrounded by trees and wildlife and even a family of horses. The idyllic surroundings provided us the perfect place to enjoy a time of relaxation while we ate, and chatted with one another. It was a great opportunity to meet new people and build new friendships in a relaxed atmosphere.

Everyone enjoyed the fun, while the the children had a great time splashing in the river and building a dam and most sensibly staying in the shade whilst all the "responsible" adults stayed in the sun all day. It's fair to say a few of us got a little bit pink! a few of the more enerjetic of the party, kick started a game of rounders with everyone having a good time and a laugh, (and most not being too competitive) There were some brilliant hits and some epic catches (well, we thought so) bringing fun to all involved.

In all the BBQ was a fantastic success, enjoyed by all and certainly one to remember. We would like to thank everyone who brought food, a special thanks to Pete, Matt and Tom for cooking and also thank you to everyone who came.We hope to see you all at our next social!
