Summer Fun Day 2014

Sunday 20th July saw the sun prevail as members of Burnham Community church came together to present their second annual summer fun day. An early start and many helping hands enabled the swift set up of many stalls and attractions.

At 10 O’clock the fun began with a steady run of people from the start all enjoying the fantastic variety of stalls including plants, crafts, jewellery, dog accessories inflatable toys and more. The children enjoyed the bouncy castle, tombola’s and other games available at stalls around the Garden, with face painting being a huge hit thanks to our American visitors.

We were delighted to have other local groups come with stalls including the local fibromyalgia support group, scouts and guides.

Through the day guests at the Fun day were treated to live music from the Burnham Community Church worship group, the Stoddens Stompers and the Coastline Singers as well as a fabulous dance display from the Lucy Gunter Dance School students, while enjoying delicious treats from the barbeque supplied by Jenny Fox and her family. A superb job was done by all of our performers and our cooks we would like to say big thank you to all those who came and performed and served at the fun day.

Steve and Sharon headed up our healing prayer tent and Hope for Justice information point and did a fabulous job with their team of helpers at sharing about the plight of the victims of modern day slavery.

With positive feedback, good weather and a lot of visitors the day was enjoyed by all, the overwhelming comment being how nice an atmosphere it was.

At the end of the day the profits were counted and we made £460.55 to be split between hope for justice and the ongoing outreach work at burnham community church.

We would like to say a huge thank you to everyone who helped out, who served on the stalls, performed and gave so generously as well as to all who attended. We had a great day and look forward to doing it all again next year!
